Addis Ababa, (Horn Observer) – Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday arrived on separate flights in Asmara in a bit to boost bilateral matters, only a day after Kenyan president traveled to Ethiopia for high level investment forum, local media reports.

According to Eritrea’s Minister of Information, Yemane Gebremeskel, the three leaders discuss timely regional issues in a Tripartite Summit today while bilateral matters will also feature in separate meetings.

The peace pact signed between Ethiopia and Eritrea in July, ending two decades of animosity following a dispute over their border, is having positive effect throughout the horn of Africa.

Before traveling to Eritrea, Kenya president Uhuru Kenyatta travelled to Ethiopia for High Level Trade and Investment Forum and later travelled Hawassa city. Their visit to Hawassa includes the Hawassa Industry Park where 22 leading manufacturers in textile and apparel are currently operating employing 25,000 employees.

This joint inauguration, which follows similar ones with the leaders of other East African countries, marks the continued strengthening of relations and regional integration.

During his state dinner remarks Kenyan president shared that Addis Ababa is also the city of Kenyans & other Africans. He gave his support to the Beautifying Sheger initiative & pledged that Kenyan companies will stand by PM Abiy Ahmed & Ethiopians in the ‘Dine for Sheger’ fundraiser.

The restoration of peace between and among the members of the region is already providing for the possibility of extended economic integration and a wider political response.
