Mogadishu (Horn Observer) Mogadishu again hosted another CAFIS event this week, but now not only for media practitioners, but for religious scholars, in what its campaigners say has reached at its peak, since the start of the program 3 years in Turku Finland.

CAFIS or Forgiveness program has been carried out by volunteer Somali journalists, who want to see Somalia transformed from anarchy and lawlessness to Peace and harmony.

Initiated by Finnish-Somali journalists, who held their first public event in Turku Finland in June 2017, with the aim of launching  media campaign about CAFIS or Forgiveness program among Somalis world-wide in attempt to spread peace, forgiveness and reconciliation among Somalis.

"We are glad that Mogadishu residents have shown their commitment to the CAFIS campaign by hosting Cafis event” Wali Hashi, founder and head of Cafis organization in Somalia told the local media, "We are happy to see the positive results of our campaign.”

At least 3 people were wounded on Friday after an Cafis event with key speaker by Somali Islamic scholar, Sheikh Kenyawi, was postponed, after people outnumbered the number of participants scheduled to attend the event. On Sunday, Banadir regional administration told the local media that the Cafis event with Sheikh Kenyawi will be held on 18 January.

”This path of Cafis is very unique way the Somalis can give each other and can create a friendly, peaceful environment and grass-root level" Abdi Mose Mohamoud, one of the founders of Cafis said as cited by Xogdoon Daily Newspaper, one of the biggest newspapers in Mogadishu, " Media practitioners, religious scholars and artist were the main drivers of Cafis campaign and today to see religious scholars responding to our is a milestone achievement.”

Somalis have gone through various stages of civil war led by clan warlords and religious conflicts for more than 2 decades, which has created a hostile environment, which requires tough media campaign for enabling environment for those affected to forgiveness one another.

"Cafis campaigners are dedicated to conduct broadly based professional media oriented toward awareness on peace and Forgiveness Campaign accompanied by training Journalists to report responsively peace supporting news along with their normal journalistic reporting and documenting” Cafis Campaigners said as cited by the local media.

On June 28, 2018, Somalia has seen the largest Cafis/Forgiveness campaign the first of its kind in Somali history, after Cafis Team organized campaign events across Somalia with millions of people attended the events directly and indirectly, which thus prompted the religious scholars to respond the call for Cafis campaign.
